This is the challenge placed to my staff at the end of January 2009, it has brought great ideas and resolve.
"In conversation with other business leaders and within the leadership of our own organization, I have been asked the question “How does Wright Printing plan to be a force in the current economy?”
My answer is uncomplicated – “Exercise more and eat less.”
The metaphor is simple. It means - we must work more efficiently if we want to be a stronger presence in the print market. How?
By maintaining equipment consistently thus preventing the major costs of breakdowns and the cost incurred from variances in quality.
By carefully analyzing purchasing, effective negotiating, and careful watch of inventories on every level.
By massively limiting waste through the reduction of defective product produced and by employees limiting waste in each individual’s area.
What ideas do you have to make your job/department/machine more efficient?
Due to a variety of circumstances – many of us have stepped outside of our usual comfort zone. In my office is a reminder that “Change is to give up what we are . . . to become what we could be.”
2009 brings us a unique and combined opportunity. I look forward to continuing to learn from you your ideas to decrease waste and improve productivity. Working together we will see success in 2009." – Mardra Sikora
