When will, we will!

We utilize a company newsletter each month to acknowledge, inform, and sometimes joke around with our print family. I get a lovely corner spot; I'd like to share this with you as well.

When Will, We Will

Today I utilized Google to find the answer to the question – “will the recession end (was prompted to add soon) soon?” And good news! In March of 09 Time reported the recession will end soon. In May MSNBC said the recession will end soon. In June the Economic Policy Journal said… Continue

What is a Craftsman? Follow-up

What is a Craftsman?

In December of last year I posed this question to the Print Junkie community, (see discussion: http://www.printjunkie.net/forum/topics/recognizing-a-craftsman) the managers in our shop, and other networking venues: What is a Craftsman? As expected I received great feedback – Thank you! The tricky part was compiling the answer into a brief, succinct format.

To that end our definition is:
A craftsman is a person who
• Has expertise in his/her field
• Consistently produces a… Continue

Seriously -

"Newscasters continue to declare “Print Is Dead”. What is your response?"

Where did you read that?

What I learned while sleeping on the shop floor

The "Confessions of a Print Junkie" prompted me to share this:

My great-grandfather started a small commercial print shop in 1927. He used a radio and a basketball for collateral. As an 8-year-old, I thought this sounded reasonable because I understood the true value of both of those items. Naturally, my grandfather took over for his father (this was before I was born) and my father worked for his father (this was after I was born). It is common in some trades - mechanics, beauticians, floriContinue

Looking for the keys to success in 2009

This is the challenge placed to my staff at the end of January 2009, it has brought great ideas and resolve.

"In conversation with other business leaders and within the leadership of our own organization, I have been asked the question “How does Wright Printing plan to be a force in the current economy?”

My answer is uncomplicated – “Exercise more and eat less.”

The metaphor is simple. It means - we must work more efficiently if we want to be a stronger presence in the print market. How?

Mardra,

A friend of mine is an experienced die maker and has a new product you might be interested in. It's a plastic board cut with a water jet to allow for tighter tolerances and longer life. His name is Dan Mazur and he will be joining printjunkie in the next day or two.

I hope the two of you can work together on any new projects.
