While I'm not an expert by any mean, it would seem to me that on a gross level, the only differences are in how the paper is fed into the press and how the ink is laid down. For example, all presses use plates of some kind to hold the image (let's…

I got my press!!!

Just wanted to jump up and down and say that I found my etching press (down in Richmond, via e-mail networking) and it was delivered yesterday. It is the sweetest little machine I have ever seen. (I must be a print junkie to think about presses that way!)

Anyway, now I'm going to be able to make art all day long, even when I'm still in my bunnie slippers!

Thanks for all your encouragement and help.

I'm looking to buy an etching press

I'm a fine arts printmaker in Springfield, Virginia, and I'm looking to buy an etching press for my home studio. Ideally, the press will accommodate paper sized 22 x 30 or smaller. Any leads?

Actually, I really appreciated it all at the time - I knew it was the time of my life. There are times when I wish I'd gotten "serious" sooner but the older I get the more I'm convinced that my wanderings for 2-3 yrs after college were the best possible use of my time.

Thanks for the add and the comments! I've got 20 years in the reserves so far and can go another 20 if I want (and if I can make the rank!). There's many times I wish I had gone active duty, you can't beat the retirement and benefits.

Sounds like you have an interesting business too. I've looked at the etching press, but still don't know much about them. Good luck in your search! And let us know what you discover! Now, the hand powered etching presses I've seen were not too much money, a thousand bucks or more. I'll look and see if I saved any of the links when I looked at them for you.
