Sorry for the very long delay. I had the bright idea to replace some equipment while it's somewhat slow......and it took a lot more work and time than I thought.

Dan how did you make out on your project? - (foiling 9 pt. serifs on cover is tough)

Does anyone have any ideas, printing or foil on Classic Crest Canyon Brown 130# Cover? Client would like to produce a business card with 9pt Font with Serifs.

Hi ya Dave. Tons of interest in letterpress these days, mostly as an art medium though. Check out www.briarpress.org and you'll see. I fear most shops use letterpress mostly for numbering, foil stamping, scoring and die-cutting these days. There's a niche for high end deep impression wedding invites and the like. My self I'm looking to reprint a few public domain works as well as do up some sort of monthly newsletter for my press. Just stuff for something to do really. I find the pace and attention to detail when working with a letterpress very relaxing when compared to the pace of modern electronic imbued printing.

I just saw this group, funny to see it today because I showed the Digital Publishing class my collection of lead, steel, and wooden type. Talking about letterpress is still of some interest out there in the real world.

So what types of work are letter press folks doing today?

Great video Juan. I love that people are starting to get it!! I've been silently hiring 'screw-ups' (to quote Tom Peters) for years and they happen to be the strongest assets to our organization.

Great article! Here is a link to a short clip that has Tom Peters discussing much of the same thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_w4AfflmeM
