Through the years, I've received great recommendations from colleagues and peers about business, marketing and branding books that are well worth sharing. My hope is that others will use this space to swap information and learn about new titles well worth the read. I know I'm always looking for a worthy recommendation.

Some of the below books are ones I’ve read, some I’m reading and some are in the yet to be read pile, but for what it’s worth, here’s the beginning of my list:

No Logo by Naomi Klein
E-Myth by Michael Gerber
Good to Great by Jim Collins
Zing by Sam Harrison
Blink and Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell
The Big Moo, The Purple Cow, Permission Marketing and most things written by Seth Godin (his blog included)
Blue Ocean Strategy by w. Chan Kim and Renee Mauborgne

Blue Ocean Strategy is outstanding if you get a chance- focuses on taking your products out of the shark infested red ocean into another entirely different environment where there is no competition. The best example was Cirque du Soleil taking a traveling circus and making it a high-end Las Vegas destination event.

Hmmmm.....how can we repurpose a pocket folder???? Maybe we start a new fashion trend for headwear? Or we take the grocery world by storm and use folders for packaging cheese slices?? OK- that's a bit of a stretch, but you get the point.......
