I'm curious...for those of you who work for an ad agency, design firm or are an in-house or freelance designer...what publications do you read?

When I was the Advertising Operations Manager at The Patriot-News in Harrisburg, we purchased Print, How and and there was one other (MIND WENT BLANK!!!!). The environment in a newspaper design studio is mostly retail driven, but we did alot of marketing materials as well. If I can think of the last one (Which was great by the way!) I will send the name to you.

It's probably Communication Arts?

HOW is a good one.

Great question! This would be a fantastic interview question, don't you think? I'm not only a printjunkie, but a communication and design junkie as well, so my list is kind of long, but here are some publications I simply adore and always look forward to:
in print:
Wired Magazine
Fast Company (when my sister passes hers along!)
MacWorld
and I used to read HOW, Ad Age and I.D. before budget cuts eliminated most print publications :(
and online:
Design Float
Marketing Professionals
Rock Your Day
Men with Pens (even though I'm not a man)
Veerle's Blog
Revving Up Readership
and now, PrintJunkie.Net, natch!
And I won't even begin to mention the kazillion or so other mags and sites I check out for inspiration!

I am an avid industry reader and also read

These are not design specific, but tie into design from the marketing execution/strategy perspective and sometimes make connections to the design around campaigns.

Direct Magazine for Direct Marketers--not exactly design, but tied into design/execution

BtoB Magazine for Marketers to B-to-B segment

Target Marketing--again more marketing bent

also, do not discount The Wall Street Journal--great marketing related articles. I scan The Journal everyday with my Online Edition

PS: Fast Company is free online last time I checked.
